SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Rap fans and plenty of marijuana smokers were treated to a show with half a dozen artists at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night.
Wiz Khalifa has included many rappers to be part of his Vinyl Verse tour, including Logic.
Kicking off the night at 6:30 p.m., fans got to listen to some beats as DJ Bonics got the crowd going for all the rappers. Other opening acts were DJ Drama, C Dot Castro, Fedd The God and 24kGoldn.
Although most of the first acts only ran for about 15 minutes or so, they all did their part to keep the crowd more excited for the great performers.
Many of the opening acts interacted with the crowd by telling them to wave their arms side to side or up and down and shout lyrics as they rapped.
Fans in the pit were lucky enough to get the hoodie Fedd wore during his performance as he threw it into the crowd. Other rappers, including Fedd, also jumped off stage a bit during a song to perform in the pit with fans surrounding him.
Those not in the pit were still able to get their hands on loot thrown into the crowd by various performers. Many artists threw t-shirts by hand and also with a t-shirt launcher.
Once all the first acts finished their sets, the crowd then got really excited to see Logic come out.
Logic fans have heard him perform parts of more than two dozen songs, including “Everybody”, “Perfect”, Everyday and “Wu Tang Forever”.
Before performing “Wu Tang Forever,” Logic told the crowd how he grew up in a family where his parents weren’t really an active part of his childhood, with both parents being drug addicts. He said that when he was a teenager he used music to get away from it all and commented on how much he really liked the rap group Wu Tang Clan. He went on to say how grateful he was for having the opportunity to make a song with the Wu Tang Clan.
During his hour-and-a-half set, Logic also gifted each tour merchandise to two fans in the pit who sang his songs along with him.
To end the evening, Wiz Khalifa performed just under 20 songs for over an hour. Some of the songs he performed were “We Dem Boyz”, “Black and Yellow”, “Roll Ipp”, So High” and Young, Wild & Free”. During several of his songs, Khalifa could be seen smoking marijuana on stage.
Khalifa also performed “See You Again”, in memory of actor Paul Walker. During this song, deceased rappers such as rappers Nipsey and Mac Miller.
While Khalifa performed on stage, some of the opening acts, including DJ Drama and C Dot Castro, could be seen walking around interacting and taking pictures with fans in the crowd.
Around 11 p.m., Khalifa brought some of the opening acts back onto the stage with him holding black flags that said “Taylor Gang” over them as he performed his encore song “Taylor Gang.”
Although it was a rainy night, it seemed rap fans were enjoying the roster of artists and Khalifia ended the night by telling the crowd that he was looking forward to returning to Saratoga Springs next year.
