Before discussing the track, Johnson and Kimmel chatted about his daughter passionately singing “Row Row Row Your Boat” on a car ride. Kimmel then asked Johnson if his daughters listened to “Face Off” as much as their favorite children’s songs.

“It’s their favorite song. They adore it. My verse, I kill it. They attack him. They say all the words, even swear words. It’s the best, ”replied Johnson. The actor then embarked on part of his verse, rapping, “Black and Samoan in my veins / My culture bangin ‘with Strange / I change the game, so what is my m ——— n’ name (Rock ). “

Talk with BillboardJohnson reflected on his rap debut with “Face Off” and shared what he wanted to accomplish with the song.

“Our goal was to create a song that got people’s heart rate up a bit and their adrenaline a bit more, and also created a song that could potentially become an anthem in people’s lives,” he said. “It started with us personally, with me and Tech and Joey and Iso, [saying], ‘What’s the song we want to hear every time these guys take the stage? Or every time I go to a movie set, or to the gym? What song do we know the teams were playing in the locker room before going on the pitch? “

“The goal was to create something lasting, capable of stretching over time. And it shakes up the cities, moves the crowds and really gets you moving, ”Johnson added.
