BOB recalls Eminem’s reaction to André 3000’s verse on “Play The Guitar”

BoB says Eminem praised André 3000 after hearing his verse on “Play the Guitar.”

BoB recalls showing Eminem his collaboration with André 3000, “Play the Guitar”, during a studio session at the time while talking with B High TV for another interview. The song was intended for BoB’s second album in 2012, strange cloudsbut did not make the final tracklist.

“I remember when I was in the studio with Eminem and playing Eminem ‘Play the Guitar’,” he said. “And I remember Em being like, ‘You never know where [André 3000] will land at.’ I know what he meant when he said that. I was watching him listen to André 3000’s verse on my song and he was like, ‘Shit, man. You never know where it will land with the current. And I’m just like, ‘Yo, this is crazy for me!’ »

Although Eminem and André 3000 have yet to work together, they have both complimented each other over the years. With Eminem’s 2002 hit “‘Till I Collapse,” the Detroit rapper ranked André 3000 among hip hop’s top artists, while the Outkast rapper opened up about his relationship with Eminem during a interview on Rick Rubin’s Scrached disk podcast in 2019.

BoB added that he understood where Eminem was coming from and praised André 3000 for his vivid storytelling ability.

He continued: “I know what [Eminem] I mean that because… the way André approaches poetry, it’s like a journalist, he tells stories. You know when you see fight rap and they make you go “Oooh!” He’s able to do that just by speaking from his point of view and you’re like, ‘Damn it! I never thought about it’… Even today, I still listen to Dré’s verses and I say to myself: ‘How did he do it? Why did he say it like that?

BoB ended up collaborating with Eminem on “Airplanes, Pt. II.”
